Driving in a Winter Wonderland

Last week I was on vacation and frankly, I worked my ass off the entire time! By the time Monday rolled around and I had to face that 4AM alarm clock once again...it was rough! Not only that, it took me 1 hr and 45 minutes to get to work because of the 27 mile sheet of ice that I was required to drive on. By the time I got to work, again, EXHAUSTED! So Monday night it snowed and the ICE was incredible. Needless to say, I did not go to work...and I didn't go to work today either, why? The roads out here still suck. More snow is predicted but it will turn to rain and hopefully some of this stuff will melt. I love a good snow storm honestly, but I do not like to drive in it. I don't know how many people really relish the thought of driving in icy conditions. Really doesn't that look like great fun? And think of the expendible dollars you could give to the towing companies. People always like to say stupid things like..."well I'm from Minnesota, this is nothing. You guys get 1" of snow and the whole city comes to a halt. Ha ha ha, we Minnesotans/Chicagoans/Bostonians/Whateverians are way better than you PNWians because WE know how to drive in ice and snow!" Really? Name one fricking hill you had to go up in your icy, snowy conditions. Of course, anyone can drive on flat ground in the ice and snow.. try going up a big ol hill with a stop light at the top. Now THAT's drivin in the snow! Don't forget that the PNW is inherently wet...so while you may get the kind of ice that blows around gently on the street as you drive over it...we get the kind where it just rained for 25 days straight, flooded everything and NOW it's going to freeze. Oh, don't they call that an ICE CUBE? We really don't do that badly considering we don't have the millions of dollars in snow removal equipment that parts of the midwest and east coast enjoy. So leave us alone about it and oh,by the way, it's ok to admit that you aren't really any better at driving in this shit than

Yeah, we (PNWers)can't drive in the snow-- even when it is a flat stretch. Seriously. The hills definitely complicate things, but we really aren't good at snow.
